Journal · Landscape & Place
A natural connection.
We believe the landscape is as much a part of the home as the architecture itself.
The experience begins with the approach, where the movement of the land, the placement of trees, and the first glimpse of the house create a quiet sense of arrival. Rather than treating the property as open space around a building, we consider how its natural contours can shape the experience of living there.
Gentle changes in elevation, traditional stone walls, layered plantings, and carefully considered paths create a series of connected outdoor rooms: a place to gather around a table, to sit beside a fire, to enjoy a garden, or simply to be alone for a while.
Planting brings texture, seasonal interest, and privacy, and each space should lead naturally to the next, with the landscape unfolding gradually rather than all at once. This is where Abode began, in land development, and it is still where every one of our homes starts.
The intention is not to impose a design upon the land, but to create something that feels as though it has always been there.
